309 viewsAnother shot & ready to go into the yellow 914 you see in the background :-)

307 viewsSolution: 1/8" cork gasket with a 1/16" stainless-steel washer under each mounting ear. This is a spacer, not really a gasket. The gasket material is used to hold the washers (well, along with some Gas-A-Cinch) and help prevent the mounting ears from getting torque stress during starting.

307 viewsSince there is no notch to hold the retaining bolt I welded on a tab. It keeps the bolt from rotating when removing/applying the retaining nut.

297 viewsArrows show wear on new HPA starter. Was making an odd, metalic buzzing sound during start testing after install. Removed and saw that the starter was engaging too far and thus rubbing against the flywheel.

296 viewsAnother view of the interference wear.
914_old_starter_001.jpg
293 viewsWear on original starter. Plus it wouldn't start when it got hot (heat soaked) and even when cold it cranked a bit slowly.
